Authorized User – Share My Credit Score

I learned about this from your seminar but had one question.  If my friend adds me as an “authorized user” is there any potential harm to her credit from having me listed as an authorized user?  I wouldn’t have or use her account in any way; and I don’t have horrible credit; like a 665 middle score but she is at 820.  Thoughts?  Thanks.

Hi Liz,

As discussed previously, not every credit card company reports the Authorized User on the Authorized User’s credit report.  There would be a danger that the credit card could be run-up by the Authorized User and then the guarantor would be left holding the bag so to speak.  Other than that, I am not aware of any negative consequences.

An 820 credit score – wow!  She should write some articles for us at the Broken Credit Blog.

Thanks for the questions!

Paul

>>>EDIT: FICO changes scoring algorithm.  Must now add as Joint cardholder.
