Catalog Credit Cards

I recently recieved an offer for a “merchadise” credit card. The advertisement claimed it reported your $10,000.00 credit line to the credit bureaus. Would this raise your score? Is this a good idea? The fees are not much more than “bumping” your credit inquiries.
