Paying Collections May Reduce Your Score

Hi. I check my credit report last year and many accounts were in collections and so forth.

I have paid off all of them and have also negotiated settlements.

Back then my credit score was 536 but when I checked today it was a little over 400.

I do not understand how why my credit score dropped, even though I paid many accounts in full and a few with settlements. All of my other accounts are current.

Can you please provide some clarification?

Results of the Week!

Check out Adriel’s latest results!

Here we go folks, another great job this week!!

  1. Martin County Circuit Court- This was a property tax lien that was paid by the customer and was not reported as such, it still showed as an “unpaid lien”. I was able to have the lien completely deleted instead of showing as a paid lien; we love to see the word “deleted”!
  2. Merchants Association Collection- This was an unpaid medical collection that was about 2.5 years old for $685.00. The collection company could not verify it and thus it was deleted!!

Overall point increase was 32 points!!

Tune is next week for more “Results of the Week”!! Thank you!

Results of the Week!

Check out Adriel’s latest results!

Another great “Results of The week” folks! This time, we got a “rare” negative account off, a STATE TAX LIEN!

  1. Tampa Bay FCU – This account was an old repossession (involuntary). Remaining balance was $4890.00.The account was reporting different information to all 3 bureaus, (easy to get these off), so it was deleted!
  2. Bank of America- 3×60 and 1×90 late payments on an OPEN ACCOUNT- BOA reported the 1×90 by mistake, so it was deleted.
  3. Florida Department of Revenue – This was a state lien for $1259.00 (the customer did not remember what it was for). Although it was an old account (6 yrs old), the State Dept of Revenue could not verify the information and thus it was deleted!

Tune in next week for the “Results of the Week”. Thank you folks!

Fixing Credit in 30 Days

Thanks Paul. I love your website. I wished I had been there a few weeks ago when this house came up for sale but better late than never. I am working with a local guy to get things done.

I have looked at all the ID theft things already and now I know what I’m going to be doing for the next few days. I also found a couple of people of my credit report: Asset Acceptance and Palasaides (sp?) with bills that have been paid with the original creditor almost seven years ago. Sheesh! But with all your website’s help, this should all be a memory in 30 days!

Thank you again Paul!

Paul,

Once a person obtains a “pay for delete” letter, then what?  Do I send the letter to the credit bureau?

Thanks,
