Credit Card Unauthorized Charges

hi Paul

A client charged $20000 for a window sign from a professional company. The card was swiped. Cusatomer does not want to pay the goods and charged it back. Not the crdit card company is after the merchant . The merchant cannot find the slip for the charge. Is  that enough (the faCT THE CArd was present ) to validate the transaction?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,

I’m sorry - I’m not sure I followed your question exactly.

It sounds to me like a consumer’s rights were asserted under the Fair Credit Billing Act.  The FCBA limits unauthorized credit card charges to $50 as long as the consumer’s FCBA complaint letter reaches the creditor’s ‘billing inquiry address’ within the first 60 days of the bill that contained the error.

I can’t give you a better answer than that, but I will say that you have Stumped The Experts.

Thanks for the questions.

Paul
