FHA Repairs After Closing

I have an FHA loan, add in our contract, it states the house seal and floor joist need replaced before loan would go thru. MY inspector took pictures of the problem for record, We have been here 1 year and having problems at the sink area, so I look under the house and I see this was never replaced but more rigged with 1/4 plywood between the joist. What can be done about this since it has damaged everything within the kitchen sink area. THANKS

Hello Chris,

I’d call the Dept of HUD’s ‘Single Family Lender Assessment’ at (888) 245-4860 or email: REAC_TAC@hud.gov and ask to have this investigated.  Then HUD will send a form letter to the FHA originating lender and require that the originating lender investigate the problem and ‘work out a mutually satisfactory resolution’ which in my mind would be the lender paying to have the structural problem fixed.

Thanks for the questions and hope this helps.

Paul
