Mortgage Days Late

Love your site!

The short story is that my parents refinanced our home for us, credit is in their name and spouse and I make the mortgage payment.

I bent the rules but am sure I didn’t break them when I made our mortgage payment at the bank which services the loan on the 31st of the month.

Late fee assessed, but is this really 30 days late?

Thanks,
Terri

Hi Terri,

Late fees for mortgages are generally charged when the payment is fifteen-days late.  For credit reporting purposes, how late is late?  Whenever you have a dispute with your mortgage company, you can label it as a Qualified Written Request and that will definitely get their attention.

Thanks for the questions and hope this helps.

Paul
