Original Creditor & Judgment Reporting
Your site is AMAZING!! After spendig a full day reading just about every article written, I felt that I was properly prepared to tackle my fiance’s credit, as we are preparing to buy a house. The good news is that after about an hour’s worth of work, I actually had arranged to have 4 items (2 erroneous, 1 paid, and 1 no longer owned by the company reporting it) that were in collections removed from his credite report!! I have 8 letters (6 PFD, 1 DV, and 1 Dispute) ready to go out tomorrow in the hopes of raising his score even more! Thank you SOO much!
Here is my question… there are 2 items that are reporting on his credit report in collections. One is listed as a charged off debt, and the other is listed as account closed/ sold to another lender; however, there were judgements for both items, and both were filed by the original creditor. Can the collection reports be disputed and / or removed, since both of those items were judgements? Would that be considered a double reporting?

Hi Niki,
It sounds like you are describing the original creditor’s tradeline(s). An original creditor’s tradeline will not be removed simply because the creditor plaintiff was awarded a judgment. The entry is, however, required to be corrected or removed if it is not complete and accurate and/or the statutory reporting time renders it obsolete.
Collection accounts are required to be purged when the collection agency is no longer collecting. It is, unfortunately, possible for the original creditor’s tradeline, the collection agency, and judgment to report simulateously.
Thanks for the questions and hope this helps.
Paul
