Same Name

Hi Broken Credit,

I was reading through your site, and I like, the many others, wish to thank you for hard-to-find helpful and thoughtful advice. I share the same name as my father and his delinquent credit is on my credit report. I wanted to know what is the best way to correct this mistake. I know that dealing with credit bureaus can be a very arduous task, especially when it comes to accomplishing your objectives. I also know that using a  credit repair/restoration attorney can be very costly. Put simply, what is the most cost-effecient and most effecient way to remove these delinquiences from my credit report? Is it a rescoring agent? Or?

Additionally, in order to utilize a rescoring agent, do you have to be in the process of acquiring a mortgage or can it be prior to that? How does one find a reputable rescoring agent in their area?

I thank you for your time in this matter.

With gratitude,

Ryan

Hello Ryan,

Mixed files result from the CRA’s matching algorithm.  Write a short unambiguous dispute letter and send it along with a copy of your driver’s license by CMRRR to the credit bureau(s).  You may choose to include a copy of your social security card for extra measure.

Yes, the rapid rescore is for mortgage loan applicants only.

Thanks for the questions and hope this helps.

Paul
