Short Sales and Rubies and Whiskers on Kittens

Short sell the wife.

I’m married and own a house that I want to short sale. The loan and title are all in my name since I owned it before we married. If I short sell the place, will my wife assets be included in the documentation? She has some money in a bank account that she would like to keep and not be subject to my downfall. Is that a possibility?

Hello Sean,

The lender might ask for the wife’s information but if she is not an obligor on the loan then the lender shouldn’t be reviewing any of her income or assets on a short sale.

Thanks for the questions and don’t short sell the wife.  And on that note, I’m reminded of Proverbs 31.

Pro 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price [is] far above rubies.

Paul
